Designated as a Tourist Site by the Regional Government of the Azores

– The Ethnographic and Gastronomic Truth of Terceira Island

– THE BEST OF OUR TRADITION

At Quinta do Martelo, classified as a Tourist Utility site by the Regional Government of the Azores, the aim is to restore a genuine Azorean rural environment, starting with the buildings and decorations, and extending to the gastronomy, customs and traditions.

Here we can observe and experience the entire evolution of the gastronomic, ethnographic, and civilizational culture of the Azores throughout the centuries.

Visitors who come to live with us are offered the true ambiance of an Azorean rural house. In these homes, the aim is to meticulously restore an authentic environment, starting with the most genuine and highest quality construction and furnishings, the result of research and documentation of traditional architectural knowledge, decoration, and other equipment from the earliest times, without neglecting the most modern comforts available to the user.

There is also an opportunity to showcase both rural activities and traditional arts and crafts that still exist.

The accommodations available, spread across several houses, are each unique and distinct, showcasing the finest furniture and décor found on this island over the last four centuries. They encompass styles from the time of settlement to the last century, and the houses are licensed by the Regional Tourism Board and integrated as a small village.

At Quinta do Martelo you can enjoy the best cuisine of this island, which has already been awarded 1st place in the "Gastronomy - National Heritage" competition, among many other prizes. Everything produced organically here is consumed at the restaurant "A Venda do Ti Manel da Quinta".
